This is an artist trading card (ATC) I made for a group swap. The requirements were to use lace, ribbon, or bow, glitter, your choice of image and a green circle. I forgot about the green circle and glitter until I had completed the cards, so I improvised and slid a punched circle behind the charm and added the glitter to just the exposed section. Sometimes mistakes are what I like best about an art project!

I printed the rose background paper from Miss Cutiepie Inspiration and Freebies Blog she has a lot of wonderful freebie images! Cardstock, ribbon and glitter is from Stampin' Up. I used Distress Ink in Antique Linen to ink around all the edges of the papers and cardstock. I love the little peace charm. I have had them in my collection for years, do not remember where I got them. I love doing the artist trading cards they are fun little pieces of art!

Pinwheel Birthday Card

My inspiration for this pinwheel card came from the May 2011 Card Marker Magazine Page 18. I used Stampin' Up's 1 1/2" Scallop Square punch for my pinwheels. The pattern papers are from My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Collection - Hazel Papers 6x6 pad. The buttons and cardstock are Stampin' Up.

This is one of my favorite images Scribble Rabbit from Whipper Snapper Designs. I used Prue Color Pencils from Stampin' Up to color the image. Cardstock and ribbon are Stampin' Up.

I have been really trying to concentrate on 10 minute or less cards here lately. I am in the process of creating a series of note card sets for a fundraiser and I need 200 + cards, therefore I need nice and simple cards that still look great! This is a classic example of just that!

This is a great image from Unity Stamps! It could be a day without friends, sisters, or drinks is a day lost! So many meaning with this one! I used Stampin Up papers and inks. Lighting is bad, but the pinks, reds and browns really look great together!

It has been a few months since I have blogged. I have been slacking big time. What will 2011 bring? Only time will tell, but I hope that 2011 will bring much joy and laughter to everyone!

This is a cute card I made for a swap. I used the Stampin' Up set Elements of Style, the hummingbird is so sweet, reminds me of my parents who used to feed them so they could sit and watch their beauty from the kitchen and dinning room windows. The Old Olive and Soft Suede make for a pretty color combination. All inks, papers and ribbon are Stampin' Up!

This weeks challenge is a Color Challenge we were asked to use Purple and Silver, what a fun combination!

I just love this image by Pink Cat Studios! He is one of my favorite snowmen images! I use Stampin Up pure color pencils to color the nose and birdies. I stamped black snowflakes with Stazon ink onto the glossy silver card stock and then matted vellum over it with black brads on the corners! I used Stampin Up Elegant Eggplant colored card stock, ribbon and glitter.

This weeks challenge was to add something metallic to your card. It can be a charm, paper, brads, embellishments, ribbon, embossing, just as long as it shines! I had fun with this cute mug image! I used my Copic markers to color the image. I used a little glitter and Diamond Glaze on the red heart. I popped the whipped cream up to add a little dimension to the card. Cardstock and paper is from Stampin' Up, but the silver background mat, believe it or not was from a Kleenex box! When I saw the bright silver inside I know I had to break it down and save it for my cards! I punched the hearts from it as well! I love the silver elastic cording, I think it makes a nice finishing touch tied toether with the hearts, candy cane charm and noel tag!

CSAYL Gift Set Challenge #6 - Double Packet Bag

This was a great project this week. The bag is made from one 12 x 12 piece of Stampin' Up Designer Series paper!! I use a rub-on from Stampin Up too so this was a no stamp project. I love the cordaroy buttons and the white stitch brown ribbon, they were both discontinued but I was sure to buy several containers nad spools before they were gone! :-) It turned out super cute and came together quickly.

This would make great little office gifts and would hold gifts cards or girft certificates perfectly. I just cannot believe that October is here already, time sure flies when you are having a blast creating cards and projects!

Wow I had a wonderful day at work today! We celebrated my birthday! Look at this beautiful basket of goodies I got from my dear friends at work! I love the colors and the baskets rim is so pretty! They filled it with mini pumpkins, Indian corn, decorative fall squash, a plant in a nice tin planter complete with a bird in a nest, pumpkin candles, note pad, gift cards and gift certificates, Lotto ticket and the cutest scarecrow that sits on the edge my plants.

I had to laugh when I opened the card...it is one I made and gave to my co-worker Debbie last year in her card refill pack for her birthday. About 5 years ago I made her the cutest little lunch tin that held a variety of cards and now every year I "refill" it for her.

I feel very loved and spoiled to say the least., best news is I get to do it again tomorrow for my REAL birthday with my family!

CSALY#65 - Inspiration Challenge

This weeks challenge was as inspiration challenge. We were not to limit our creation to just the colors, but to take a look at the different elements such as the stripes on the pillows, the ribbons, the ornaments, fireplace, nativity scene, stocking, etc.

I used the pillow as my inspiration. My card is very simple yet will make for a great card. All the layers running through the center of the card are popped up, which did add a little extra something to the finished card! Since is was a simple design I was able to make several in no time at all. It is 6 x 6 so there is plenty of room to include our family photo inside.

This weeks challenge was to create a card without stamps. I found this free clip art image online and though it would make a great Christmas card. I colored it with my Copic markers and then layered it under a velum quote to soften it. The papers are from My Mind's Eye.

Mothers Day Card

This is the Mother's Day card I made for my mother in law. I love these paper flowers!! I used the Scallop Punch from Stampin' Up! I used five layers of card stock, got them wet and crumbled them and then spritzed them with glitter mist and then layered them with a brad in the center, and then scrunched and smooched them more, the more you work the card stock the better they look!

All inks and card stock and papers are Stampin' Up!

Gift Set Challenge #3

This weeks challenge was to create an Accordion File Purse! What fun it was!!! You can find the tutorial HERE!

This was a fun project to put together and went quickly too. I used all Stampin' Up papers and inks. I love how the flower turned out. I used gold Smooch spritz on the flower to finish it off. You can not really tell in hte pictures but the petals really do sparkle! There are so many different ways to make these flowers, I but this time I used the Stampin' Up ornament punch to make mine and used a cute chocolate chip colored brad in the middle to help attach it to the purse flap. My flap is held closed with a magnetic closure. I am going to fill it with a variety of all occasion note cards in matching papers which will make a great gift!

I just love the chocolate chip satin ribbon on the matching card, it is one of my favorite ribbons to use!

This cute little "Cherry Mouse" is a digital image from Mel Jen's Designs and I thought he would make a super cute Christmas card. I made my play on words saying in Word and printed a sheet for multiple use! My decorative paper, card stock, ribbon and button are all from Stampin' Up!

I have to say I am LOVING my Copic markers. I resisted for years and I really thought why do I need another maker and is the cost worth it?? But I was so wrong, when I finally got a chance to play with them I was HOOKED! They make coloring and shading so easy..love them!

CSAYL #47 - To "Die" For

This weeks challenge was to create a card using a die cut(s). I used this super cute snowflake bigz die from Sizzix. I cut one each of Going Gray and Basic Gray Stampin' Up! card stock. I used the top note die to cut a frame for the card front out of Going Gray. My background card stock is Rose Red also from Stampin' Up! The saying stamp is from Unity Stamp Company's "Embellished Season" set. I spritzed the entire finished card with the Stampin' Up! new Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer. They will be coming out in the Summer Mini for purchase May 1st!!! The corduroy button brad is also Stampin' Up! I finished it all off with rhinestones for some extra bling.

Stampin' Up! Color Renovation!

What an exciting ANNOUNCEMENT FROM STAMPIN' UP!!!!

Stampin' Up! is releasing 5 Brand New Colors and bringing back 10 of the retired In Colors! I am glad to see them bring back some of my favorite In Colors!! These new color collections will be available to everyone with the new Stampin' Up! catalog in July AND if you are a DEMONSTRATOR you get to order them early!

We will also get 5 new In Colors in the new catalog, too!

Gift Set Challenge # 2 - Tall Box & Card

Wow this weeks challenge was so much fun! I used this adorable pirate image and colored him to match my Stampin' Up! Christmas papers. The box went together so easily too! CSAYL #45 So Many Embossibilities!

This week we are featuring Embossing here at CSAYL........you can use either Dry or Heat Embossing on your card or even combine the two!

I am so not happy this week at all with my card, truth be told I waited till the last minute and my idea was good but the execution failed. I really hate the ribbon, I should have left it in a bow. But I finally had to give up at 9:54PM so I could get the picture taken, add my watermark and get it uploaded before 10pm to the challenge site. I made it by 10:02PM almost on time!

I love the Tim Holtz image "Ornate Collages" from Stampers Anonymous . It made for a perfect silver embossed element. I might take this card apart and re-work it a bit, if I do I will post updated pictures.

CSAYL #43 - Out of the Box Challenge

Our challenge this week was to create a card that was not in the shape of a square or rectangle! So I made a this cute curvy creation! I used my Creative Memories cutting system, a favorite trusty old tool of mine.

This another digital snowman image from Squigglefly isn't he just adorable! You will be seeing several of their images through out these challenges as they just have the most adorable snowmen and you know how I LOVE snowmen! Papers and inks are Stampin'Up. I loved this weeks challenge, it was fun to create a card that was a fun shape!

Gift Set Challenge #1 - Card Purse

This is our first "Gift Set" challenge and I am so happy to be participating!! This year at CSAYL on the first week of each month, we'll have "gift set" challenges which consist of one 3D item (box, treat bags, gift bags, folders, etc.) and one card to create a coordinating set. A tutorial or a link to a tutorial will be posted and the challenge will be to create that 3D item and the card.

So from Maria "Without further ado. . .this week's challenge is to create a "Card Purse" with a coordinating card. I decided the "Card Purse" that I saw on SCS was a wonderful gift set idea for our very first gift set challenge. There will be no specific theme for this project. You may use any image, color, or embellishment as desired."

I had a great time creating this challenge! I made three of theses gift sets...which means I am off to a great start! I love this digital snowman image from Squigglefly he is just too adorable! All papers, inks and ribbons are Stampin'Up.

This "SO GOOD" image from Phindy's Place is just adorable! I have fun working with it. I used clear embossing powder over the frosting to give it that glossy look. The rest of the images are from Unity Stamp Company January & December KOMs, as you can see from my last few post...I like these set! Papers and inks are Stampin' Up.

CSAYL #42 - Color Challenge

The challenge this week was to create a Christmas card in shades of Pink. Easy enough to do since I love the shade! The pine tree images are from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection. I stamped them on Stampin' Up decorative paper with SU white craft ink and then embossed with weathered white embossing powder. I used Timber Brown Stazon ink for the saying stamp. I did a simple layout as I wanted to make several of this design.

Greetings! We hope that you enjoyed a safe and happy holiday and that the recipients of your challenge cards were wowed with your creativity!

It's that time again! Time to get going with your Christmas Cards. This year we have a slight change with the challenge blog. The first posting of the month will be a 3D gift type challenge. Last year the DT were very excited about having plenty of cards done, but some found that they were scrambling at the last minute to complete their gifts and gift packaging. Without further adieu, lets get into this weeks challenge!

Glitter

I used a glitter mist all over my card front. All images are Stampin' Up rub-ons, snowflakes and all!! I made the background paper with a color wash on water color paper. Then I sprayed it with my glitter mists! You can see the glitter mist best in this picture below.

Now I for one am very excited to be adding the 3D Challenge this year! I had so much fun with all the challenges last year and wow was it nice to have ample cards ready to send for the holidays. This year I am looking forward to not only having ALL my holiday cards ready for mailing but November but i will also have a jump start on my gifts as well!

These are the cards I did for Valentines Day. I used images from both January 2010 and December 2009 KOM from Unity Stamp Company. I just love these images and for $26 a month it is a great deal!! The card stock and inks are Stampin' Up Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip. I just love this color combo!!!

Envelope Card

I found instructions on this card made from a A4 envelope when I was organizing my desk area. It is an OLD technique, but still a great one and easy!

Just seal your envelope and cut off 1 1/4" from the top to create your topper. Run the large envelope section through your crimper, this makes it a bit narrower so the top slips on nicely. The inside card is 4" wide x 4 1/4 tall " I put a tab on mine to help pull it out of the pocket but it is not necessary.

I dressed up the rose image with some glitter on the petals and popped it up at different levels.

I got the news last week that I had won first place with this entry in the Blockheads Paper Arts Contest!! I won a $50 gift certificate, which has been spent and then some! Oh what fun!

5 x 5 Canvas Art

I really have fun making these canvas. I covered the entire canvas with a homemade mixture of shimmer paint, white acrylic paint and reinkers. I would use my heat gun in between layers to speed the drying.

I used brown Stazon ink for the wings & saying on vellum and then water colored the wings on the backside of the paper to prevent it for running or smearing when I distressed it. I then crumbled and lightly sanded the vellum and finishing it by spritzing with my homemade shimmers (shimmer paint, alcohol and reinker)

As you can see here I used my various homemade shimmers on the entire piece! One of my favorite things to play with right now!

The leaf was stamped using a watercolor technique, I made a stamp pad with moist folded paper towels. I placed a few drops of reinkers in three different colors and then spritzed the towel with water one more time. I was able to make several impressions before having to spritz again! The picture really does not show the different shades very well but in person you can see it.

I wrapped a piece of suede colored cardstock around the canvas but first I did a wash of shimmer over the entire surface.

I dyed this twill ribbon in my in one of my brown shimmers, it was bright white to start with.

I sanded the bright copper brads to expose the silver edges for a more distressed look.

I used brown Stazon ink around all the edges.

You can tell in the bottom of this picture that the background had a blue/green shimmer depending on how the light hits it. Really pretty. I finished the back with a 4/75" x 4.75" piece of card stock to hide all the ends of ribbon and card stock that wrapped around.

Sankari's Non-Traditional Colors Challenge was a fun one to do. I used pink, brown and a dash of yellow as they are a favorite color combo of mine. All papers, inks and images are Stampin Up! The images are from the new Level 2 hostess stamp set Christmas Punch, it is a new favorite of mine as it is designed to be used with SU punches!!

What a fun sketch this week! I used all Stampin Up papers and inks. I love the new Holiday Lounge DP, it has a funky retro look to it. Dasher is a new addition to the catalog as well, he is one of the single stamps you can purchase. This card came together so quickly, I made a dozen of them, that way I can always tie a pretty ribbon around them with matching envelopes and give them as a gift!!

Better late than never.....so I am a bit behind I had a few busy weekends LOL The ornament is a paper piecing. I just love these Stampin Up papers. I sanded them to tone it down and give it a more antique look. I added a bit of glitter to the stars around the saying and rhinestones for some bling! This was a FUN challenge as I really do not do paper piecing very often!

This weeks challenge was an "Out of the A2 Box". Simple, make a card that is not the typical A2 size. I made an accordion card that is held together and tied shut with ribbon.

This is Debbie's Sketch Challenge for this week...it was a fun one!

I love these Basic Grey papers! I thought this color combo as a pretty change from the traditional red & green. I have a ton of these silver snowflake brads and I just love them, I used brown stazon on it to ton it down. The vellum I used has a butter cream tint to it, looks pretty in real life, the lighting on the close up picture faded it out.

This is a card I made real quick before work this morning for a swap that I had to get out in the mail. Simple and easy took only a few minuets to create.

This is a fun Stampin Up color combo Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Tangerine Tango and Bashful Blue. I did the "kissing" technique on the lizard, I used old olive to ink him up first then I used black ink with a tiny flower background stamp right on top. The three brown brads add the finial touch!

Sankari : HI Everyone, Its almost August and its scorching hot over here - so how about something cooling! This week's challenge is to make a card with snowmen, snowwomen, or snowpeople :) You can make it with any colors, etc. but the main feature should have a snowperson on it :) Can't wait to see your wonderful snow creations!

I wanted to use the new Stampin Up! In-Colors. I will admit they are brighter than what I would normally use, which is why I am challenging myself to use them anyway!! Plus I think it is fun to use colors that are not always the traditional colors of Christmas! I did not spend a lot of time on my card, ok I will admit it...I have a Facebook problem...I am completely addicted and spend way too much time on there! But I did still make 4 of them! I now have a full plastic container of completed cards!! WOW 27 weeks! past the half way point!

You can not really see it in the photo but I stamped and embossed with glitter a big snowflake on the background paper. It looks good in real life! I love using glitter, but just seem to hate the mess, so it sits in the drawer most of the time. I need to bring it out more!

Vicki's Challenge this week was to create a Christmas card without using any stamped images. You can get very creative with this, using Die Cuts, Recycled items, Stickers, Flowers, Lego........what have you!!! You can stamp a sentiment, but other than that, I don't want to see any inky fingers!!!!

This was the perfect challenge for me this week as I was gone last week on vacation and had a busy week this week getting back to work...then it was a holiday weekend and so forth! It was nice to create a simple card that came together quickly.

This is the card I made for my monthly alphabet swap. Can you guess what letter we are on???? Yep, E is for elephant! Image is from Stampin Up background paper I think is Basic Grey. I love the saying on this image "to an unforgettable friend".

I hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend. We are having family for the weekend!! I am just glad that I get THREE days off in a row!! Happy dance! We are going to see the new Star Trek movie Saturday, Burney Falls on Monday and will be spend countless hours by the pool. Weather should be perfect!

Vicki challenged us to add a little Zing with Christmas Bling this week! We could use Glitter........... Red, Green, Gold, Silver.........anything that suited our fancy! Rhinestones or Blingy Brads, Some Pretty Embossing anything that resembles Tinsel or Christmas Lights!

So as you can see I used gold embossing and red rhinestones as my zing! Once again this was a super fun week and I love how my card turned out. I made four, one for each sister!

This week Maria posted a color challenge for us! I like these colors together. The red with the teal and turquoise make an unexpected nice combo!

This was a fun challenge this week. I used a lot of pop up dimension on this card. I have been trying to on a few of these challenges to use images that are not typically in the "Christmas" category. We are doing 52 weeks of challenges and although I may have plenty of images, I want others to know that if you don't you can impressive and create fun cards by thinking outside the box.

Colors are all Stampin Up, Real Red, Taken By Teal, and Tempting Turquoise. I even used a little gold & glitter that you can see in the photo on the star.

Well Maria did it again, gave us a great sketch for our challenge. I had fun once again this week. I went with different colors than the typical Christmas colors and I love how it turned out!

This was a no stamping card, I used Cuddlebug embossing folders and a rub on saying. The DP is Stampin'Up Sweet Slumber, it is a textured cover weight card stock, CS colors are Ruby Red, Baja Breeze, So Saffron. I popped up each layer to give it dimension. This is one of my favorites so far, think just becasue of the fun and funky color combo!

This is from a class I held today. What a super fun project! It is one of Andrea Walford's class planers. I just love her projects. Since I work full time, her planners allow me to put together fun organized class projects that fit within my time table. This will make a nice little gift for my MIL. She will have four adorable cards to send to her grand kids!
